This early-morning photo of the plains 30 km south of Alice Springs was taken in a season after good rains. The red earth shows through, but there is plenty of grass for the kangaroos (one is jumping away as the photo was taken). The combination of bush and scattered trees is very typical. There is an eagle in one of the trees.
