BiographicsBirthdate: ca. 1930 in Atnangkere (Utopia) Language Group: Anmatyerre Ada Bird Petyarre was born at Atnangkere, at Utopia, and is a spokeswoman for the Anmatyerre poeple. She shares the tjukurrpa of this painting and many others with her sisters Gloria Tamerre Petyarre, Kathleen Petyarre, Violet Petyarre, and Myrtle Petyarre, who all are well-known artists. Her first works were made as part of the Utopia Batik Project which toured the world and a number of her batiks are in important collections. In 1988 she began using acrylics on linen, during a Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) art project, and in 1990 had her first solo exhibition in Sydney. The cover photo of the catalogue for the "Utopia: A Picture Story" exhibition, which toured Dublin, London, and parts of India, is one of her works. Ada Bird Petyarre is one of the most famous Aboriginal artists and her works earn international aclaim. Paintings
