BiographicsBirthdate: Language Group: Alyawarre Audrey Morton Kngwarreye belongs to the Alyawarre language group and is one of the group of female artists who began using Batik techniques in the ´70s and whose work was included from 1977 to 1987 in a travelling exhibition which toured Australia and overseas. Audrey Morton Kngwarreye began working with acrylic on canvas in 1988. Paintings
Untitled, 1997 Acrylic on canvas, 87 x 60,5 cm ´Audrey depicts ´Awelye´ Ceremonial Body Paint Design associated to her counry Ngkwarlerlaneme. The arced motifs represent teh design used by the women when they have ceremony. The women paint these motifs on their chest, breast, shoulders and upper arms using ground ochres.´ |
