BiographicsBirthdate: 1921 Yalantjiri Language Group: Kukatja Eubena Nampitjin was born in 1930 near Well 33 on the Canning Stock Route. She is one of the oldest and most respected members of her community and a custodonian of the Kinyu area. She has been an active artist since 1986, with many exhibitions. One of her works won in 1998 the 15th National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award in the category of Open Paintings. Paintings
Near the Canning Stock Route, 1998 Acrylic on linen, 90 x 60 cm Two circles near the centre of the painting depict Yanya and Warlu waterholes, which have been important meeting places since the tjukurrpa. Horizontal brown lines show the "motor car road" - part of the Canning Stock Route near Koonawarritji (Well 33). This is Eubena Nampitjin´s traditional country, dominated by parallel sand dunes. |
