Biographics

Birthdate: 1921 Yalantjiri

Eubena Nampitjin was born in 1930 near Well 33 on the Canning Stock Route. She is one of the oldest and most respected members of her community and a custodonian of the Kinyu area. She has been an active artist since 1986, with many exhibitions. One of her works won in 1998 the 15th National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award in the category of Open Paintings.

Near the Canning Stock Route, 1998

Two circles near the centre of the painting depict Yanya and Warlu waterholes, which have been important meeting places since the tjukurrpa. Horizontal brown lines show the "motor car road" - part of the Canning Stock Route near Koonawarritji (Well 33). This is Eubena Nampitjin´s traditional country, dominated by parallel sand dunes.
