BiographicsBirthdate: ca. 1947 Language Group: Pintupi George Tjungurrayi was born near Kiwirrkura in the country of the Pintupi people. He began painting in 1976, at the same time as his elder brother Willy Tjungurrayi, while at Papunya where the contemporary art movement began in 1971. The areas of Yai Yai, Warawa, Mt Liebig and Kintore were also important in his life. Paintings

In ancient times a large group of women made camp at this place before continuing their travels to Lake Mackay.
