BiographicsBirthdate: ca. 1937 Old Greenvale Station, W.A. Language Group: Gija Mona Ramsey grew up on the Bow River Station and even as a young girl was involved in all sorts of station work. She says that her early years were very good ones, despite the hard work, because she could spend her free hours with the older people in the desert, learning about her country. Doworrlji, 1998 Natural pigments on canvas, 45 x 60,5 cm Doworrlji is the black hill shown in the painting and is located on Bow River Station where Mona Ramsey grew up and worked. |

Jumalaygoon (Victory Hole), 1999 Natural pigments on canvas, 100 x 140 cm Jumalaygoon (Victory Hole) lies on Bedford Downs Station. The waterfall at Victory Hole flows into Bow River. Mona Ramsey shows a fireplace where people used to camp in a cave at the top of the waterfall, in the early days. This is Paddy Bedford´s father´s country. Paddy Bedford is Mona Ramsey´s uncle and told her about this place. |
