Bibarr, 2000
Acrylic on linen, 179,5 x 120 cm

Depicted here is some country to the south of Balgo, which is known as Bibarr. Bibarr is an important men´s law place, and a stopping point on the Tingari Cycle of desert law. The series of circles represent the series of waniri, or rockholes that are found here; these rockholes are known as inda, or living water, as they always contain good water. The two small red shapes are the places where red ochre is found, which is used for many ceremonial purposes. The small, black arch shapes are men sitting by certain of the waniri, gathered there for "jarlu law", or big law.
